I attended the yearly Stampin’ Up! convention 2009 in Salt Lake City in early August. There are many reason I enjoy going to the convention. One of them is all the project ideas. Stampin’ Up! posts boards with projects to inspire us to try new things. These pictures are from art boards posted under really bright lights so some of the pictures maybe a bit blurry – sorry. I learn so much from reviewing the project boards that I would like to share some of those ideas with you. I’ll be posting a project idea once a day for the next few weeks. Enjoy!
This project is using the Sweet Season stamp set (#116471) I’ve been highliting the last couple of days. I’m sure you are seeing the versatility of this stamp set. This project is using white craft ink. All you have to do is stamp a sheet of Real Red card stock, let it dry and then cut it down to fit the sack. A really easy project to do multiples at the same time. Hey, what a thoughtful gift this would make for someone. For those of you looking for fund-raisers, creative gift containers sell well. Let me know if you need some help with your fund raiser. I’ll be happy to contribute some of my commission to the cause.
We all need gift bags for the holidays and winter gift giving. Make these up in advance to have them on hand. The last thing you need to do is run around wrapping or purchasing the same old gift sacks from the store. Trust me you will be so glad you did.

I love stamp sets that match a punch. This stamp set actually goes with two punches, the Scallop Circle Punch (#109043) and the Wide Oval Punch (#112082). You can make so many fabulous projects going two of my favorite things…stamping and punching!
This sour cream template has always been a favorite of mine as well. You can make the container any size you want. It is easy to get 4 containers out of one sheet of 8.5×11 card stock. Wonderful to use with Designer Series Paper. Great idea for Halloween Parties. I can also see adding some of those small cookies inside and then treating your co-worker to a coffee and this cute little container. She will think you are an angel.

I think this picture speaks for itself. Isn’t it wonderful. The artist used the Gel Pen to create the accents. This could be a card or you could make it in to a house for decorations. I thought I could use the same template for my birdhouse project. The lollipops are punched circles but I think you could also use the scallop punch if you wanted. For the roof, the artist used the Scallop Edge Punch (#112091) but I was thinking the Eyelet Border Punch (#113692) would be cute as well.
I was preusing my favorite blog scene and lo and behold look what I found on Paper Crafts Blog. Jennifer Schaerer shared her enthusiasm for the Stampin’ Up! convention and the BIG news regarding My Digital Studio and Build-A-Bear.

I saw this stamp set and I thought of all the great uses for it. It’s going to be hard to decide on which project I want to do first. If you plan to make any home made goodies to share with co-workers, potlucks, family member treats, good neighbor gifts, this is the stamp set for you.

I already talked about some great use for this project on a previos post. I just wanted to show you an example in a holiday theme. You can use the same card template over and over again. Why not make several to have ready.

We did some hiking over the weekend with our friends Gabi & Walter. It’s been forever since I did that much hiking and my body told me so too! I’m still trying to recover from it. I can’t say it was ALL work, we certainly enjoyed some playtime too. We had great outdoor picnics in the middle of rolling hills for our lunch. Luckily, at the end of our hike we found this great little cabin which served food and beverages with chairs and tables. We were overjoyed!

Did you notice the poinsettia is made from the stamping and embossing using the Tree Trimming Stamp Set? I love it when I see ideas of how to extend the use of a product. Granted this will take a little time and cannot be mailed but this is a WOW. Think about using it on a wreath, table setting, gift tag, gift decoration or a box on a box. The possibilities are endless.
I know my Stampin’ Up! customer Jenny loves poinsettia. Jenny are you seeing this?
Sizzix and Stampin’ Up!, two leaders in the crafting industry, have joined forces to bring you even more irresistible products! You can add a whole new dimension to your projects with the pop up dies for the Big Shot. Join Donna Griffith as she demonstrates how to create our pop up cake.

I confess, my Christmas Tree is different every year. I have a yearly holiday theme that goes to all my decorations, gift wrapping, tags, cards and tree. Yea, I know it’s a little excessive but I love to do it. I am always using Stampin’ Up! products because one stamps, ink and Designer Series paper and that’s all I need. Anyway…..when I saw this project I thought wouldn’t it be nice to have a 6″x6″ scrapbook of all the Christmas trees throughout the year. It could even tie in with the theme. What a wonderful memory. So, I just started a new tradition!

My Inspiration Club Members have made a box by simply die cutting 4 of the Scallop Envelope Bigz Die (#113462) and then chaining them together to make a square box like this. The box is great for Easter baskets, bathroom products, office supplies, you name it. Let me know if you need more details. This box is made with only two scallop envelopes and then simply cut the sides to fit. How cool is that? Great for any gift box filled with candy or home made peanut brittle. See my previous post on the exclusive Scallop Envelope Die for the Sizzix Machine.
Stampin’ Up! has partnered with Build-A-Bear Workshop® to produce the first-ever paper-crafting products featuring the Build-A-Bear Workshop brand. These exclusively designed products are available starting September 1st and include stamp sets, Designer Series papers, and Sizzix dies. This selection provides young and young-at-heart Build-A-Bear Workshop enthusiasts endless hand-crafted possibilities for scrapbook pages, cards, invitations, home décor, and more.
With the new Build-A-Bear Workshop collection, would-be party planners can create the perfect blend of customization and personalization with any paper crafts projects they create, especially birthday ensembles for the little ones. I would love to show you and other do-it-yourself party planners how easy it is to create unique birthday ensembles using paper-crafting supplies. Projects are easy enough that even children can help assemble the decorations and invitations together as a family in one evening.
This is a great partnership that will provide unlimited opportunities for creativity. Just think of the hours you can spend playing with your grandchildren, making all kinds of Build-A-Bear creations. Do you remember paper dolls? Jill Kocherhans, from the Stampin’ Up! home office, created the most adorable version of paper dolls I have ever seen. I have a link to the graphic below.
I normally don’t share these type of things on my blog but I thought the reporter captured the essence of Stampin’ Up! and the new objective which is to Inspire. Create. Share.
The article and pictures give you a good idea what convention was like. Nicely done article. Here is an excerpt:
When it comes to the art and craft of stamping, the theme of this year’s national Stampin’ Up! convention says it all, says Shelli Gardner, co-founder and CEO of the 20-year-old company.
Card-making, scrapbooking, home decor, gift items, apparel — whatever you do, however you find your creative outlet, she says, your life can be enriched.
Through these crafts, “you create tangible products, but you create something of value on many levels,” Gardner says.

Let’s talk a little bit about making Christmas cards. Althought I love this card because of the stamp set (Tree Trimming #116722) it uses, the use of textured card stock (#115538), the color scheme (Dusty Durango & Crushed Cury) and the beautiful greeting (Many Merry Message #116586), that’s not the idea I want to highlight. It’s the ribbon. WOW! I saw this card and I was immediately drawn to the ribbon. Dress up all of your projects with this beautiful, high-quality ribbon. Whether it be a bow around a gift box, to hang a handmade ornament, accent a home decor decoration or to dress up a card, it add a WOW effect.

Now I would like to show you how you can use the same stamp set to create one-of-a-kind gift boxes. Take a look at my last posts for more ideas using the frilly girl stamp Things I Love (115229). Both of these gift boxes would make wonderful Valentine’s Day quick gifts. But change up the colors and stamp set and you have inexpensive Christmas gifts, wedding favors, and surprise gifts. With the cost of everything going up, up, up, these dies and the Big Shot are a great investment. Grab your Big Shot Sizzix machine and start making these gifts in no time.
We are a generation of multi-taskers. We are on the go. We talk on the cell phone while waiting in line for our coffee. We type notes on our laptops while waiting for doctor’s appointments. We busily jot down ideas on napkins while we are at our child’s soccer games.
As women and as mothers we are great at using every moment we have to the best of our abilities. Why not apply those talents we have into a second income? Combining our talent for getting things done and our love for crafting is easy to multi-task our way into an extra income.
Here are seven ways we can use those lag times to generate interest in Stampin’ Up, to learn more about the business and to network.
#7 – Brainstorm. We all know those ideas which are the best ideas come to us at the strangest times. During a soccer game, waiting in the grocery checkout line and while we wait for the child’s dentist appointment are moments when we can brainstorm and plan stamping and scrapbook ideas. Be prepared by keeping a notebook and pen in your bag. You may just jot down a sentence or you may be able to outline a whole idea. You never know what your brain will come up with!
#6 – Connect with customers. With everyone having cell phones it is easy to use a few of those extra moments to connect with customers. Make a few phone calls as follow ups. Book parties with new hosts. Keep in touch with previous guests and customers. You can schedules classes or invite customers to an open house.
#5 – Plan your next workshop. Get out your notebook and work out the details for your next workshop. You can make list of the project you want to demonstrate. List what you will need, who you will invite. You can make a detail list right down to the deadlines you need to work within.
#4 – Review techniques or learn new ones. Bring along a copy of Stampin’ Success®, Stampin’ Up’s monthly newsletter. It is filled with techniques, ideas and tips. Learn the latest. Bring along older editions to brush up on techniques from past issues.
#3 – Plug into your iPod. Stampin’ Up has audio resources available for download. Put these on your iPod or MP3 player. You can listen to them when you are waiting for an appointment, when you are exercising or even in your car. You will pick up techniques and tips for stamping and scrapbooking as well as for your business.
#2 – Network with others. While you are at a soccer practice or game, at the doctor’s office or waiting in line at the grocery store, be prepared to network with other parents and women. You never know where a potential Stampin’ Up customer may be lurking. Having your business card, mini catalog and information at your finger tips is a must.
#1 – Plan a Mom-time project. Are there moms you see at every event, such as soccer, dance or scouts? Ask them if they would be interested in a Mom-time project. See what kind of project they are interested in and help them plan it. Make it an event for the moms of the group.
Where ever you are, whatever you are doing you can turn it into a Stampin’ Up moment. As a Stampin’ Up demonstrator you can share your talent and your love of crafting with others. Help others get their creative flow. Show them how to preserve the memories of their kids with stamps and scrapbooks. You can show them how they can make money with Stampin’ Up as well.
It is even easier to share your love of crafting when Stampin’ Up is offering a mini-starter kit. For those looking for a small startup cost in these tight times, this is the answer. For an extremely low price you get the For All You Do Stamp Kit, 6 different colored stamp pads and a variety of white and colored card stock.
This “mini” kit is far from mini when it comes to the ideas which can be generated. Think of all those times when you wanted to make up a card for someone special in your life who is just always there and doing for you. You can use the stamps in page layouts for scrapbook pages for Moms, Dads and all those special people in your life. The ideas are endless.
All that and you will be joining the Stampin’ Up family and earning money while you are at your child’s soccer game. Stamping and scrapbooking are so easy to share. Everyone wants to be a part of preserving memories and passing on good cheer through cards. Take advantage of the mini-starter kit and get started today!

This is another card sample of using the Things I Love (#115229) stamp set. Please visit my last 3 posts for more ideas. What I like about this project is the use of the Stampin’ Up! Scallop Square Punch. The punch accent allow you to take a simple to create card and make it pop with little effort. Punches are a quick and easy way to add interest, dimension, and color to your cards, tags, and scrapbook pages. We have a number of other punches you can use to layer with. The Scallop Square punch coordinates with several stamp sets including Four Square. If you have a Sizzix machine, we also have a big brother die to our punch with our 4-3/8″ x 4-3/8″ scalloped square with our exclusive Scallop Square Clear Bigz Die (#115950)

I’m on a roll here with the Things I Love (#115229) Stamp Set. Take a look at the last couple of days of project ideas. The new idea I got from this card was the machine stitching and the clever use of the Exclusive Stampin’ Up! Top Note Bigz Die for Sizzix. This is another die I purchased as soon as Stampin’ Up! released it. It’s so darn versatile, well work the cost. You can die cut at least two of the top notes at one time. You can use the Top Note die to create cellophane bag toppers from any piece of card stock or Designer Series paper. Simply cut image using the die, stamp or embellish it, and fold it over the top of a cellophane bag (fold in half lengthwise for medium bags and widthwise for small bags). Voila! You’ve made a custom bag topper in no time! As you can see here, they also make excellent card embellishments.
